Update v1.1 - Bugfixed and game balacing


Hello everyone!


First of all, I wanted to thank you for the tremendous reception this project has received. It's been a tough week of work, but I'm very pleased with the outcome of this game as well as the participation from you, the players.

Coop Catacombs has only been released for a week, and we've already amassed over 150 players in the graveyard, with a total of 1105 deaths among them all.

Due to time constraints, the game had to be released without being 100% tested, which is why I wanted to release an update today to fix minor bugs and balance the dungeon, improving user experience and playability. Interestingly, in this initial week, 7 intrepid adventurers have managed to complete 20 dungeons! Even with the game being unbalanced!

Anyway, I don't want to ramble on. I'm going to commit to this project and will continue updating it with your feedback, adding content, and fixing bugs.

Gameplay Additions:

  • Added (Gameplay) Lethe and Hallow, new NPCs that guard the graveyard and dungeon respectively, enhancing the game's lore and challenges.
  • Added (Gameplay) Hallow will assist players if the current dungeon level is perceived as too difficult, improving game balance and player experience.
  • Added (Gameplay) Every staff will be identified after being used, promoting exploration and experimentation with items.
  • Added (Gameplay) Confused players can no longer write messages or grab items, adding depth to gameplay mechanics.

Balancing Fixes:

  • Balanced early game difficulty by reducing the number of monsters in early depths and ensuring the first depth consists only of rooms, not open spaces.
  • Adjusted item and player stats for better game balance, including increased chances for dungeon items to have superior attributes, and increased starting player defense.
  • Improved player recovery mechanisms, including more healing when leveling up and additional healing after reaching stairs.
  • Adjusted combat and environment interactions, like reducing the size of grass on the floor and modifying damage output from Slime monsters and environmental hazards.

UI Enhancements:

  • Added a label on the main menu displaying the current game version, improving user awareness and game version control.
  • Enhanced the "Examine blood" feature to provide correct descriptions, enriching the game's narrative and immersion.
  • Implemented statistics about the graveyard and current dungeon, offering players deeper insights into their progress and challenges.
  • Expanded the "List Discoveries" function to show each type of item discovered, encouraging exploration and collection.
  • Improved the welcome message to now include the depth where the orb is located, guiding players and setting clear objectives.

Bug Fixes:

  • Resolved critical bugs affecting gameplay, such as issues with item and ghost addition upon player death and inconsistencies in dungeon generation.
  • Corrected errors with online messaging, trap interaction, and enemy projectiles to ensure a smoother gameplay experience.
  • Fixed specific item functionalities, such as the Holy Shield and Spiked Shield, ensuring that items work as intended and contribute positively to the game mechanics.
